About this piece
A warm, intimate oil of a reclining nude turned away from the viewer, painted in olive greens and umbers with a single hot stroke of crimson pillow behind the head. The flesh is built up in confident, broad planes; the back and thigh catch a buttery highlight. A quiet piece with a serious painter behind it. Original gilt frame.
